part i.
Character name: Lena Duchannes
Fandom: The Caster Chronicles
Species: Human
Character powers: Casters are people who are born with innate supernatural talents
and abilities, anything from being able to heal others, see through time, speak to the dead, or being able to manipulate light, or fire. Some of them are even born supernatural creatures, such as incubi or shapeshifters. In addition to their supernatural powers or state of being, they are capable of spell casting and rituals.

Lena is a particularly rare and powerful type of Caster known as a Natural. Her innate
powers are weather and fire manipulation, but with much stronger influence than most Casters are capable of. She has also stopped time twice, in very serious situations. Because she's a Natural, her spells and rituals are much more easily cast and have greater effect.

She's still young, so she has trouble controlling her abilities at times. At the start of the series the weather tended to shift with her stronger emotions; she's gained more control over that by this time, though a strong, deep, powerful emotional reaction might still trigger a very localized shift in the weather (higher winds if she's angry, rain if she's crying, things like that). She has a little less grasp of her fire manipulation; it's a running gag in the books that she sometimes accidentally sets things on fire, also usually tied to an emotional reaction.

She can also telepathically communicate with other Casters, and she could with Ethan (who turned out to be a pretty special kind of Mortal, usually it's not possible with Mortals). Casters call it "kelting"; I'd be open to her being able to do it with other magic-users in
the city if that's something that's usually within their abilities too.

part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How
susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion?

It is. Lena would likely be less susceptible to this than your standard human, but she's
not totally resistant.

2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this
include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful,
surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain.

It is. In some cases she can communicate by telepathy, but she has no mental blocks or
wards in place to keep her mind private. Her mind is in a constant state of emotional chaos, heavy with guilt, grief, and regret, not terribly ordered, and there is a wealth of magical knowledge.

3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up?
Yes.

4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional
reading would such a character receive from yours?

Yes. Grief, particularly for her lost love, loneliness, guilt, a heavy sense of responsibility, power, worry, wanting to hide all these things from everyone around her.

5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you
would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything
that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned?

Losing Ethan, losing her uncle and then getting him back, her family, her powers, her fear of turning entirely dark like her mother, wanting to make things right but not being sure how to do it, memories of her mother, flashbacks she's had to her early childhood and to the life of a Civil-War era ancestor, dreaming of Ethan. If you require details to flesh out what your character would be able to know get with me and I'll make it happen.

part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size?
Physical scarring? Tattoos?

Lena is average height, slender, with long wavy dark hair. Her eyes are green but the left
one has a gold cast to it; under that eye she also has a tiny birthmark that looks like a crescent moon. (Gotta love YA heroines, amirite?)

2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents,
telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses?

No.

3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can
include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply
differing in construction and durability.

No.

4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are
you comfortable with injury to you character going? Does this include being fed on by
vampires, willingly or unwillingly?

I'm fine with most things. If it's your general brawling-with-others type injuries we can just move forward; for serious maimings, things that would require long recovery periods, death, or vampire feedings let's talk first so I can figure out how to handle it.

5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or
disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry?

Yes. Just give me a quick run-down of what they did while impersonating Lena so I'm prepared for any IC consquences.

part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how
would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all?

Yes. Anyone who can detect such things would know she is a powerful if reasonably new magic
user, that she can affect the weather around her (especially if she's highly emotional), or
even that she's stopped time once or twice.

2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses?
Yes.

3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward
expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)?

Yes.

4. What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best
be tempted, if you are interested in such an event?
Vengeance and pride, in wanting to get Ethan back from the dead, in knowing she's probably
powerful enough to strike the right bargains and make this happen, and in believing she's
the one who gets to make that decision.

5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as
part of a plot?

Yes.

part v.
1.) Is canon-puncturing or fourth-walling acceptable? We encourage people to tread extremely lightly with allowing their character to learn they are fictional.
I do not want Lena canon-punctured or fourth-walled at all.

2. Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances?
I'm okay with threadjacking in open network posts. If you want to join a log give me and any other players involved a heads-up and we'll work it out.

3. Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform
your character of events yours has not yet experienced?

Yes.

4. Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to
avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia,
self-injury, etc.)?

I don't have anything that's an absolute, don't-ever-bring-that-up trigger. If something
does start to make me uncomfortable I will speak up; likewise, I will completely respect
others' triggers and I want you to speak up if you're not comfortable.

I can probably deal if it's legitimately IC for your character to say certain things or
behave certain ways and it's handled well.
